Titanium Fasteners
Titanium Bolts, Nuts, Screws & Washers
We supply a range of Titanium fasteners, such as bolts, nuts, screws & washers.
Titanium fasteners are lightweight, high tensile strength and good corrosion resistance. Titanium’s high melting point makes it suitable for use in high-temperature applications, such as in the aerospace, medical and ocean fields.
Two types of titanium fasteners that we usually offered.
Titanium Grade 2:
Unalloyed titanium, classed as “commercially pure” is widely used for industrial applications, due to its strength, corrosion resistance and formability.
Titanium Grade 5:
It is known as Ti 6Al-4V, with 6% Aluminum and 4% Vanadium. Titanium Grade 5 is 30% stronger than Steel but nearly 50% lighter, with high strength and good corrosion resistance.
The advantages of titanium alloy used as aviation fasteners.
- Good effect of weight reduction. An aircraft of II-96 in Russia uses 142,000 fasteners, which reduce the weight by nearly 600kgs.In China, the titanium alloy fasteners used in aerospace system also has the obvious weight reduction. After the aircraft and spacecraft reducing the weight, it will improve the thrust, increase the firing range, save fuel and reduce the launch cost.
- The excellent corrosion resistance of titanium alloy, especially its positive potential matching with carbon fiber composite materials, these will effectively prevent the occurrence of galvanic corrosion of fasteners.
- In the aircraft structure, the fasteners part can not use aluminum alloy because of the high temperature, only titanium alloy can be used.
- Titanium has good elasticity and non-magnetic, which is important to prevent the fastening bolts loosing and anti-magnetic field interference.
Three processing technology of titanium fastener products
1, Machine processing
Machine processing product is the way that use machine turning, milling, lathe picking and other processing methods to process the bar into the finished products. Because of the big waste of raw material, lower yield rate, complex process, and larger error, the titanium fasteners’ producing cost is higher. This has a big affect on the application & popularization of titanium fastener products.
2, Hot forging process
Hot forging refer to the processing method which the material is heated and subjected to pressure deformation, so that the shape of the material meets the requirements of the drawing standard. The specific method is to heat the material to a certain temperature and put it into a mold of a certain shape for forging and forming. Hot forging is mainly used to produce larger batches of bolts, nuts and some non-standard shaped parts, which improves processing efficiency, ensures product consistency, and reduces material processing cost.
3, Cold heading process
Cold heading is a method of using the plasticity of metal materials to apply pressure or cold drawing by using a cold heading machine to achieve the solid deformation of the metal. Forge the top of the wire or bar into a shape with room temperature. It is mainly used to produce bolts, nuts, screws, rivets and other parts. Now only pure titanium materials can be used on cold heading machine. Cold heading can greatly improve the utilization rate of raw materials.
